Varg would claim the murder was self-defense, claiming that Euronymous had told others he was gonna tie him up and record himself torturing Varg to death. Others have doubted this claim, with Blackthorn himself claiming Varg had driven up there to kill him and that he himself didn't care too much for Euronymous.
